Announcing Laing's Famous African-American Contest!
In honor of Black History Month in February, students are invited to create a Powerpoint (at least six slides), poem or rap that celebrates the importance of notable African-Americans.  All entries MUST be chosen from the attached list and submitted to Ms. Hennessy by February 13th.  They will be judged on creativity and accuracy of information.  Cash prizes will be awarded to the top entry for each grade level.

Laing Braves Care Vocabulary Challenge
Starting January 12th, we are challenging all Laing students to build their vocabulary while helping to stop world hunger.  Which grade level will donate a MILLION grains of rice first?  Here's how you get started:
1.  Go to www.freerice.com
2.  Log in by grade level - LMS 6th Grade, LMS 7th Grade, or LMS 8th Grade
3.  Enter the password - LMS

Laing Middle School Mission Statement

The mission of Laing Middle School is to make certain that all eighth grade students leave with the knowledge and skills to be successful and competitive in a college-preparatory curriculum and to ensure that they have a plan of study that will allow them to complete high school and prepare for future education and careers.
