Drama Kids Acting Academy- 

Drama Kids Acting Academy is excited to return to Laing this Fall! Grades 6 - 8. Exclusive to middle school students, this intermediate drama class will meet weekly for one hour and include a wide range of higher-level activities. Students will express themselves & collaborate in a safe environment. Experienced teachers will help to promote self-expression, communication, & creative thinking. Expand on acting fundamentals: vocal techniques, dramatic movement, & improvisation while delving deeper into more complex acting techniques like script analysis, character development, & physicality. Beginners and experienced actors are welcome! Join us beginning September 9 to December.

Grades: 6-8

Cost: $85 per month

Day: Meets Mondays except when school is closed.

Times: 3:45pm - 4:45pm

Geology Club- Geology club is an all-inclusive, exciting, educational group that focuses on bringing students together over a common love of all things Geology. Activities include participating in the Future Rock Hounds of America Badge Program, sorting and classifying rocks, crystals, and minerals, growing crystals, breaking geodes, and a yearly field trip.  Contact Mrs. Scott @ gina_scott@charleston.k12.sc.us for more information. 

 

iCode Tech Club is still enrolling for our afterschool program that starts next Monday. We have four more spots and we would love for your child to join us! 

This seven week program will focus on the following: Students will dive into the world of computer programming using python-3. Throughout the course concepts such as automation digital logic and modularization will be practiced using python-3 and a programmable drone. This is a hand-on tech program that will allow students to learn a new programming language while understanding how to apply these skills to help solve real world problems. 

Time- Mondays from 3:45-4:45

National Junior Honor Society- 

NJHS is an organization that recognizes not only academic achievement but also qualities essential to being an upstanding citizen. It focuses on five pillars, scholarship, service, leadership, character, and citizenship. The requirements for joining NJHS is a GPA of 92 or above in the four core classes the previous semester and no office referrals. 7th & 8th graders can apply in fall while 6th graders can apply in January.  Inductions into NJHS occur in late Spring.
